Congratulations to all the 2015 Core Values Awards winners!

On 14th October 2015 IAP2 Australasia presented 18 Awards at a Gala Dinner in Perth. Presented also were the International IAP2 Awards which saw international delegates attending and celebrating with us.

Special congratulations to the People with Disability Australia, winning both Australasia Project of the Year Award and the International Project of the Year Award. It is encouraging to see that Australasia is leading the way in embedding engagement practice.

The IAP2 Australasia Core Value Awards recognise outstanding projects and organisations that are at the forefront of public participation and community engagement. They were created to encourage excellence and innovation in this field. Successful applicants will demonstrate leading practice and evidence that IAP2’s 7 Core Values are clearly embedded within their organisations.

This year we are offering 3 major awards;

  • Australasian Organisation of the Year Award
  • Australasian Research Award
  • Australasian Project of the Year Award

There will also be 9 Project Category Awards – from which the winner of Project of the Year will be chosen:

  • Planning
  • Infrastructure
  • Environment
  • Transport
  • Health
  • Emergency Services (NEW)
  • Energy and Resources
  • Capacity Building
  • Smart Budget

This year a new category has been introduced for Emergency Services – recognising the importance of this sector to engagement practice. There will also be an Encouragement Award in recognition of innovation in community engagement chosen from amongst all submissions regardless of category.

The winners in each category of the Awards will be announced at the Core Values Awards Gala Dinner on the Wednesday 14 October 2015 during the IAP2 Australasian Conference – Influence, Engage, Lead, #6000 in Perth. Finalists will be notified in September 2015. Winners from the Australasian Core Values Awards may have the fantastic opportunity to take part in a presentation during the Conference in Perth, and will also have their successful submissions entered into the IAP2 International Awards.

All winners, including each project category winner, will receive:

  • Award Logo provided to be used on organisation’s stationery
  • Framed Certificate
  • Projects will also be turned into case studies and showcased on the IAP2 Australasia and International websites
  • Opportunity to present at various networking events

A panel of highly experienced public participation practitioners has been appointed by the IAP2 Australasian Board to judge the applications. This year’s judging team are:

Ray Tye will convene the judging panel on behalf of the Board. Ray is Stakeholder Relations Manager – South Region for the Housing New Zealand Corporation.

Sharon Lewis is Programme Manager for South Cape Partnership Western Cape Economic Development Partnership and member of IAP2 South Africa.

Simon Wright works in the Wellington City Council’s Engagement and Consultation team.

Kate Henderson has worked in the field of community and stakeholder engagement for almost 15 years and is currently working as a community engagement adviser at the City of Melbourne.
