IAP2 SA- New & Creative Engagement Techniques

April 13, 2010

IAP2 SA presents their first event for the year:
‘New & Creative Engagement Techniques’

Find out about new and creative engagement techniques which are happening amongst local communities around us right now and participate in a 6 word workshop.

Q - What do a renowned cartoon artist Peter Broelman, chalk art designs and ‘Build It, Draw It, Tell It, Make It’ have in common?

A - The City of Playfords ‘Pulse of the Public’ community engagement program!

The Pulse of the Public was one of Playfords many recent engagement projects which use innovative and creative practices in their community engagement projects. In addition to some of the more traditional ‘consultation’ techniques the Community Engagement Team at Playford has used arts and creativity as a vehicle to initiate discussion and engage with community members who may feel intimidated by a more formal consultation process, those with those with literacy challenges and other
community members who choose to be ‘disengaged’.

The Playford Community Engagement Team will be presenting the ‘Pulse of the Public’ programme and other creative techniques, candidly sharing what has worked, and what hasn’t worked in an inspirational interactive presentation.

Ernest Hemingway was once prodded to compose a complete story in six words. His answer was "For sale: baby shoes, never used."

Inspirational cinema use a simple and engaging technique to capture and harvest community voice using the concept of short story writing and image capture; the 6 word story films are a NEW form of Graphic recording. It involves capturing ~ in words, images, colour, music and sound effects ~
people’s ideas and expressions as they are being expressed in an event.

Come and participate in this workshop and see your own ‘voice’ and storey represented as the group creates its own ‘6 Word Storey’
