IAP2 VIC - Changing Climate, Changing Communities- Call for Papers
May 22, 2009IAP2 Australasia in association with the McCaughey Centre, University of Melbourne present:
Changing Climate, Changing Communities
Engaging communities about adapting and responding to climate change
Melbourne, 31st July 2009
Applications are now open for practitioners interested in presenting at the Changing Climate, Changing Communities forum on Friday, 31st of July 2009.
We are looking for practitioners from across Australasia to present on recent projects or programs that have engaged communities around the issue of adaptation and response to climate change. The interactive breakout sessions should ‘showcase’ the project or program, engagement techniques used, lessons learnt from the engagement process and the outcomes (if possible).
The sessions will be used to foster group learning and to share different perspectives. Because of their interactive nature, lengthy PowerPoint presentations will not suit these sessions .
The breakout sessions should be designed to be 70 minutes in length and may be used to simulate a community engagement technique used on the case study project.
The selection panel will be looking for projects or programs that:
• Used innovative engagement tools and techniques;
• Engaged with diverse members of the community;
• Have been undertaken in challenging geographical locations;
• Can demonstrate how community capacity building has been achieved;
• Respond to one of the key areas of climate change adaptation - Water Resources and Management, Agriculture and Primary Production, Biodiversity, Coastal Areas, Alpine Areas, Communities and Extreme Events;
• Respond to an extreme event that is a result of climate change.
We are also looking for presentations that will be fun!
The word template below should be used for preparation of submissions and sent as an email attachment to info@iap2.org.au by Friday 22nd May 2009. Upon lodging your submission, you will receive an email confirming receipt. Further information can also be obtained through this email address.
Your submissions will be vetted by a panel and contact will be made once the panel has reached a decision and/or if they have any further clarifications for you.
