This presentation will highlight the challenges and opportunities experienced by the City of Melville during their Melville Visions and Community Planning process.
In October 2005 the City of Melville in conjunction with the Western Australian Planning Commission embarked on a significant strategic project to engage the Melville community in a ‘Dialogue’ on the future of Melville City.
The process involved over 9,400 residents and stakeholders and utilised a number of techniques to gather the views and aspirations of the community. People shared their views on the built and social environment, open space and the river foreshore, transport and accessibility and local facilities.
Melville Visions was a broad dynamic consultative process that contributed to both the City of Melville’s Community Plan and the development of the Local Planning Strategy.
This process challenged the organisation to consider its commitment to involving citizens in determining their future and their right to participate in decisions that affect their lives.
Join IAP2 for breakfast and share a discussion with City of Melville staff:
