Additional practical techniques for relationship and consensus building and tools for evaluation will be shared by our facilitator on the day, Rosie Turner.
Workshops Program
Dare Kavanagh, Project Manager - Community Renewal, Housing NSW presents... Creativity for Community Engagement Dare will present an inspiring and fun workshop on how to use 3 techniques that involve creativity – quest, collage and innovation. |
Lucy Cole-Edelstein, Director, Straight Talk Pty Ltd presents... It’s Not Rocket Science Lucy will focus on effective planning techniques to ensure you have the right questions answered and provide the best opportunity for participation. Participants will experience exercises in scoping a project and identifying questions as well as looking at different engagement techniques to maximise the potential to hear all the voices, not just the loudest. |
Barbara Campany, Principal – Stakeholder Engagement, GHD presents ... Risk, Rage, Reputation, Recovery Former Community Relations Manager for Orica Limited, Barbara Campany, led the organisational recovery from the Botany groundwater community crisis. Barbara will present a case study on the crisis that emerged in 2003 regarding the contaminated groundwater and the process implemented to rebuild community trust. Participants will learn about risk perceptions, what the experts say and what happens at the grass roots level in a highly outraged community. Participants will also discuss trust, the challenges of restoring corporate integrity and credibility and some of the immediate challenges presented to an organisation facing community push-back, against a backdrop of outrage escalating more broadly through the media. |
Rowena Lennings, Director, Integrated Analysis Pty Ltd and Naomi Rowe, Community Relations Manager, AGL present... Fostering collaboration in controversial/high pressure situations Participants will learn about negotiating and facilitating consultation processes with affected community/stakeholders in the context of various case studies including Dioxin remediation in Homebush Bay EA, a Replacement Nuclear Reactor EA, the Cross City Tunnel and the Gloucester Gas Project (coal seam methane). To demonstrate the application of varying tools and techniques Rowena and Naomi Rowe will present the AGL Gloucester Gas experience in contrast with an earlier coal seam methane project in the Hunter valley, which was cancelled because of community reaction. |
