IAP2 NZ - Prising Snails out of their Hard Shells Using Technology
March 25, 2010Prising Snails out of their Hard Shells Using Technology
presented by Angela Penteado/Nada Cottrell, Waitakere City Council
–
Digital Pen Case Study – Touching Base, Christina Rogstadt
Engaging Face to Face – The Waitakere Way - Have you struggled to get people to take part in phone and web surveys? Have you struck apathy in your community engagement, and you’re not sure how to get around it? In this hard-hitting presentation, Public Participation practitioners Angela and Nada will share tips on finding new ways to engage, and will showcase how they’ve worked with tablets and a countertop to transform the way this Council engages with its community on a number of topics. This has allowed people to have their say by utilising digital tools.
Capturing Data with a Digital Pen – Surveys are done in a whole lot of new face to face now. As a Public Participation specialist, make sure you’re on hand to hear how organisations across Australasia are utilising the Digital Pen, which presents a low cost solution for data capture from the field. This would be particularly helpful if there’s forms to be filled in at trade shows and events, where people may want to have their say on paper. All data can be downloaded off pen afterwards, saving hours of input of the standard hand-written forms.
At this professional updating session you will:
* Tease out the participation results that really are worth your measuring, by capturing electronic and anecdotal data.
* Get very confident at capturing and reporting on your engagement and participation results
* Connect with fellow practitioners who will lift up the success of P2 in Australia and New Zealand
